I’m doing a test of PG/VG ratios. I’m making a Caramel, Banana, Apple (Banoffee pie mix)
Making 6ml of 70/30 and 30/70. The following assumes 20 drops = 1ml in the flavour calculations
PG/VG 70/30 4mg/ml nicotine
0.44ml Nicotine Solution
6 drops Banana
6 drops Apple
6 drops Caramel
3.26ml PG
1.8ml VG
Actual ratio is
PG: 0.44 + 1.8 + 3.26 = 5.5ml
VG: 1.8 = 1.8ml
PG/VG = 5.5:1.8
=76%/24%
PG/VG 30/70 4mg/ml nicotine
0.44ml Nicotine Solution
6 drops Banana
6 drops Apple
6 drops Caramel
0.86ml PG
4.2ml VG (note, the VG was diluted with 5% water, so was actually 3.99ml VG + 0.21ml H2O). This is because quite a lot of VG is used. In the lower VG version above it was not diluted with 5% water.
Actual ratio is
PG: 0.44 + 1.8 + 0.26 = 2.5ml
VG: 1.8 = 4.2ml
PG/VG = 2.5:4.2
=37%/63%
I’ll let these two settle tonight and try them tomorrow.
Update:
70% VG feels quite think, not much sweetness on the front of the tongue, more flavour at back of mouth somehow. can taste caramel strongly and the banana but no apple. Liquid feels thick. Good plummage. Not necessarily more smoke than the 70% PG strangely, perhaps because it’s not flowing and easily into the coil head. More taste perception at the back of the mouth as opposed to on the tongue.
70% PG same flavour but moreso on the front of the mouth. Still good plummage but less so. Doesn’t seem to block channel. Good taste perception on the front of the tongue and at the back
I think perhaps a good blend is 50/50 with 5% water in the VG?
One thing’s for sure, the caramel is a STRONG flavour and should be used 1/2 quantities to the other flavours.
It might be the case that the caramel flavour has some sugar in it and is blocking the wick, but can’t be sure. I’m going to try 50/50 PG/VG with 5% water added to the VG. I’ll try a fresh Apple and Cherry mix.
